Hi there! I’m Laura, the calligrapher and artist behind Gertie’s Calligraphy. When I began learning calligraphy, it was suggested that I create an Instagram account to keep myself accountable and find inspiration. I needed an alter ego and my first thought was the nickname my dad gave me as a kid for absolutely no reason whatsoever - Gert. Gertie’s Calligraphy was born!

So, here we are! I currently live in a suburb of Chicago with my husband and our three cats. It was during our wedding planning journey that I discovered calligraphy. I have always loved the art of writing and wanted to incorporate that into our wedding. I am here to help clients use calligraphy to add a sense of luxury to their event.

I expanded my offerings to include engraving and live brand activations, embracing the vibrant atmosphere of these events. The excitement of being on-site allows me to engage with guests directly, transforming them into active participants in the artistic process. As they witness their names or messages being elegantly crafted in real-time, it creates a unique experience that connects everyone involved, turning ordinary moments into something truly memorable.
